Reno@Yishun - more thoughts on Living and Dining

here are some of our thoughts on the 4 room Yishun flat.
it's a BTO which has finished its superstructure according to the home owners, now leaving the architecture - meaning windows, tiles doors and the rest of the finishes.

besides looking in depth into the master room , one of the more important spaces is the public space of the new home - Living and Dining.
We understand that as our land become more scarce, the need for high rise living and density, the need to keep HDB flats prices low so our dear govt now builds smaller and smaller flats.

Hence, the trusty household shelter which will be without a doubt become the first store room, there is still a need to create more storage for the newly weds. The way to go is to plan all the storage areas along the longer sides of the walls, that way you are actually creating another wall effect but when people look at it, they will not notice that the room size has become smaller because they have never seen what was it before.

so in this project, what we have done is to create an entire length of storage area along the longest wall of the living and dining area, combining it together with the tv console so that it will be seamless and streamlined.

For the dining area, there are a few ways to utilise that pocket space. There were 2 main considerations, one was to create a wall to prevent looking into the living area for Fengshui and privacy, the other was to use the already dedicated pocket space for the dining area.

well, let's see how it goes with the couple!
